Safety: Ensure good kitchen ventilation when first using a new microwave.
Burn-in procedure:
- Remove all packaging materials, including any plastic film on the cabinet or door.
- Place a large bowl of water inside and run the microwave on high for 5–10 minutes, then allow it to cool with the door open.
- Repeat once or twice if the odor persists, ensuring the room is well ventilated.
If the smell is accompanied by smoke or visible burning, unplug the unit and have it inspected.
