Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave. Internal components can store high voltage; do not touch the capacitor, transformer, or magnetron terminals. If you are unsure, call a professional.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Check ventilation: Ensure the microwave has adequate clearance on all sides as specified in the Daewoo manual (typically several centimeters). Remove any items blocking the side, rear, or top vents.
- 2. Clean external vents: Use a soft brush or vacuum to remove dust and grease from the external vents and grille. Grease buildup can restrict airflow.
- 3. Inspect internal airflow path: Remove the outer cabinet. Locate the cooling fan and air duct leading to the magnetron. Check for dust, grease, or debris blocking the duct. Clean carefully with a dry brush and vacuum.
- 4. Test cooling fan motor: Spin the fan blades by hand; they should move freely without grinding. Check the fan motor for continuity with a multimeter. If open or seized, replace the fan motor assembly.
- 5. Check thermal cut-out (TCO) on magnetron: Locate the thermal protector mounted on or near the magnetron. Test for continuity. If open, it may have tripped due to overheating and often must be replaced. Investigate and correct the cause of overheating before replacing.
- 6. Reassemble and test: After cleaning and replacing any faulty parts, reassemble the cabinet, plug in, and test with a cup of water for 1–2 minutes. Monitor for normal operation and absence of the E2 code.
Warning: Do not bypass or short any thermal cut-out or safety device. Doing so is dangerous and can cause fire or severe damage.
