Possible Causes
Open or shorted cavity thermistor, Loose thermistor connector, Damaged thermistor wiring harness, Faulty control PCB temperature input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave. Internal components can be hazardous.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Allow cooling: If the microwave has been used heavily, allow it to cool for 30–60 minutes, then plug back in and test. Sometimes an overheated sensor can temporarily misread.
- 2. Access thermistor: Remove the outer cabinet. Locate the cavity temperature sensor (thermistor), usually clipped to the side or top of the cooking cavity or attached to the air duct.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Check the thermistor harness for pinched, burned, or broken wires. Ensure the connector is fully seated on the control board and at the sensor.
- 4. Test thermistor: Disconnect the thermistor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare with Daewoo specifications (commonly in the tens of kilo-ohms). If it reads open, short, or far out of range, replace the thermistor.
- 5. Control board: If the thermistor and wiring are good, the control PCB may be faulty. This typically requires replacement by a technician.
Warning: Do not bypass the temperature sensor. It is a safety device that prevents overheating and fire.
