Possible Causes
Blocked vents, Failed cavity cooling fan, Open thermal cut-out on cavity, Running microwave empty or with metal causing arcing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave and allow it to cool completely before inspection.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Allow cooling: Let the microwave sit unplugged for at least 30–60 minutes. Then plug back in and test. If F2 clears temporarily, overheating is confirmed.
- 2. Check for misuse: Ensure you are not running the microwave empty or with metal objects that can cause arcing and localized overheating.
- 3. Inspect vents: Confirm that intake and exhaust vents are not blocked by cabinets, walls, or objects. Clean any dust or grease buildup.
- 4. Check cooling fan: Listen for the fan when the microwave runs. If you do not hear airflow, the fan motor may have failed. Access the fan by removing the outer cabinet and inspect for obstructions or a seized motor.
- 5. Test thermal cut-outs: Locate the cavity thermal cut-out(s) on the top or side of the cavity. With power disconnected, test for continuity. Replace any open thermal cut-out with the exact Daewoo-specified part.
Warning: Never bypass thermal cut-outs. They are critical safety devices.
