Possible Causes
Failed exhaust fan motor, Blocked exhaust duct, Fan relay failure on control board, Overheated fan winding
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave.
Airflow check:
- For over-the-range Emerson models, verify that the external vent or recirculation path is not blocked.
- Clean grease filters and ensure they are properly installed.
Fan inspection:
- Remove the outer cabinet and locate the exhaust/cooling fan motor.
- Spin the fan blade by hand; if stiff or seized, replace the fan motor.
- Check wiring to the fan and test for voltage during a cook cycle (technician task).
If the fan motor is good but not receiving power, the control board fan relay may be defective and require replacement.
