Possible Causes

Defective primary door switch, Defective secondary door switch, Misaligned door latch hooks, Faulty door switch wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the microwave from the mains. Microwaves contain a high-voltage capacitor that can retain a dangerous charge even when unplugged. Do not touch internal high-voltage components (capacitor, transformer, magnetron). If you need to remove the outer cover, discharge procedures should only be done by a qualified technician.

Basic checks (no cover removal):

  • Open and close the door firmly several times. Listen for distinct clicks from the door switches.
  • Inspect the door latch hooks on the door for damage, cracks, or looseness.
  • Check that the door is not sagging: gently lift the door upward; if there is excessive play, the hinges or latch alignment may be off.
  • Try pressing the door inward while pressing START. If it starts intermittently, the door switches or latch alignment are suspect.

Intermediate checks (for trained persons only):

  • Unplug the unit and remove the outer cover (if you are qualified and local regulations allow). Avoid the high-voltage section.
  • Locate the door interlock switches on the latch bracket (typically 2–3 micro-switches wired in series).
  • Using a multimeter on continuity, test each switch while opening/closing the door actuator. Replace any switch that does not change state cleanly.
  • Inspect the latch bracket for cracks or deformation; replace if worn.

When to call a technician: If the error persists after confirming the door closes properly and the switches/latch are replaced, the control board interlock circuit may be faulty and should be diagnosed by a professional.
