Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave. Internal thermal devices and high-voltage components can be dangerous. Do not bypass thermal fuses or thermostats; they are critical safety devices.
External checks:
- Ensure all ventilation openings around the Fagor microwave are clear. Maintain at least the clearance specified in the user manual (often 10–15 cm at sides and top).
- Remove any items blocking the rear or top vents (built-in models often have trim kits—ensure they are correctly installed).
- Clean dust and grease from external vents with a soft brush or vacuum.
Usage checks:
- Confirm you are not running the microwave empty; operating with no load can overheat the magnetron.
- Check that cookware is microwave-safe and not reflecting excessive energy (no metal trims).
Internal checks (for qualified personnel only):
- Unplug and remove the outer cover.
- Locate the cavity thermal fuse and magnetron thermostat on the cavity wall and magnetron body.
- Test for continuity with a multimeter. Replace any open thermal fuse/thermostat with the exact Fagor-specified part.
- Verify the cooling fan motor spins freely and runs when the unit is started (test with power only if you are trained and can do so safely).
Do not bypass or short thermal devices. If they are opening repeatedly, a deeper cooling or magnetron issue must be resolved by a technician.
