How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Stop the microwave immediately when arcing occurs and unplug it.
Inspection and cleaning:
- Remove any metal objects, twist ties, or foil from inside.
- Inspect the waveguide cover (usually a small rectangular mica plate on the side wall) for burns or holes.
- Clean the cavity thoroughly with mild detergent and water; remove all burnt food deposits.
- Do not use abrasive pads that can damage the cavity coating.
Repairs:
- Replace a damaged waveguide cover with a Fagor-approved mica cover.
- If cavity paint is chipped exposing bare metal, use microwave-safe cavity touch-up paint as per manufacturer guidance.
If arcing persists after cleaning and replacing the waveguide cover, have a technician inspect the magnetron and waveguide.
