Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave.
Moisture and cleaning:
- If the error appeared after boiling liquids or heavy steam, leave the door open and allow the control panel area to dry for several hours.
- Wipe the control panel with a dry, soft cloth. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the panel; spray onto the cloth first.
Ribbon cable check (for experienced DIYers):
- Remove the top grille (if present) and the screw securing the control panel.
- Tilt the control panel out and locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board.
- Gently unplug and reinsert the cable, ensuring it is fully seated and not corroded.
If specific buttons never work or E6 persists, the keypad membrane or entire control panel assembly must be replaced. Order the correct Farberware control panel for your model. Installation is moderate difficulty and may be best handled by a technician.
