Possible Causes

Child lock feature enabled by user, Stuck key causing lock activation, Control board misinterpretation of key presses

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety note: This is not a hardware failure in most cases.

  • Disable child lock: On most Fisher & Paykel microwaves, press and hold the Stop/Cancel or a dedicated Lock key for 3–5 seconds until the lock indicator disappears. Refer to the user manual for the exact key combination.
  • Power reset: If the lock will not clear, unplug the microwave for 1–2 minutes, then plug back in and try the unlock sequence again.
  • Check for stuck keys: If the lock reactivates by itself, inspect the keypad for stuck or damaged buttons. Clean the surface and consider keypad replacement if the issue persists.
