Possible Causes
Contaminated humidity sensor, Failed humidity sensor, Loose sensor wiring, Faulty control board sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.
- Clean cavity and sensor port: Thoroughly clean the interior of the microwave, especially near the sensor port (usually a small opening or cover on the side or top of the cavity). Remove grease and food splatter.
- Allow to dry: Moisture buildup can cause SE errors. Leave the door open for several hours to allow the cavity and sensor area to dry completely.
- Reset the unit: Plug the microwave back in and test a non-sensor function (e.g., timed cook). If SE only appears during sensor modes, the humidity sensor may be failing.
- Inspect and replace sensor: If accessible, remove the control panel and locate the humidity sensor. Check the connector and wiring. If cleaning and reseating do not help, replace the humidity sensor with the correct Fisher & Paykel part.
