Possible Causes
Blocked or incorrectly installed ducting, Grease filters clogged, Fan installed in wrong orientation, Damper stuck closed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing the fan or ducting.
- Check filters: Remove and clean the grease filters with warm soapy water. Allow to dry completely before reinstalling.
- Inspect damper: Check the exhaust damper (flap) at the outlet of the microwave or on the exterior wall/roof. Ensure it moves freely and is not painted shut or blocked.
- Verify fan orientation: If the microwave was recently installed or reinstalled, confirm that the blower fan is oriented correctly for recirculating or vented operation as per Fisher & Paykel instructions.
- Check ducting: Inspect the duct for kinks, crushing, or obstructions. Clear any blockages.
