Possible Causes
Stuck or burnt relay on main PCB, Damaged power track on PCB, Shorted high-voltage transformer (non-inverter models), Overcurrent protection triggered on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before inspection. High-voltage components can be lethal. If you are not experienced with electronics, do not attempt board-level repairs.
Steps:
- 1. Confirm symptom: Try different power levels and cook times. If the unit never energizes the high-voltage section and E6 appears, suspect the control board.
- 2. Visual inspection: Remove the outer cabinet. Inspect the main PCB for burnt spots, cracked solder joints around relays, or melted connectors.
- 3. Listen for relay click: With the cabinet back on and unit plugged in, start a short cook cycle and listen for a relay click. If no click is heard and E6 appears, the relay or its drive circuit may have failed.
- 4. Replacement: Control board replacement is typically the solution. Transfer any wiring harnesses one by one to the new board to avoid miswiring. Board-level relay replacement is possible but should be done by an electronics technician.
