Possible Causes
Failed convection temperature sensor, Convection fan motor failure, Blocked airflow around convection heater, Faulty convection control circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Convection and grill elements run at high temperature and are near live wiring. Allow the oven to cool completely before working.
Steps:
- 1. Check for overheating or blockage: Inspect the rear and sides of the microwave for blocked vents. Remove any obstructions and clean grease filters if present.
- 2. Access convection components: Remove the outer cabinet. Locate the convection fan and heater assembly at the rear of the cavity.
- 3. Test the convection fan: Spin the fan by hand; it should move freely. Test the fan motor for continuity. Replace if open or seized.
- 4. Check convection temperature sensor: Locate the sensor near the convection heater or in the rear wall. Test resistance at room temperature and compare to specs. Replace if open, shorted, or out of range.
- 5. Inspect wiring and connectors: Ensure all connectors to the fan, heater, and sensor are tight and not heat-damaged.
