Possible Causes

Moisture in membrane keypad, Damaged touch panel, Shorted keypad ribbon cable, Faulty control board keypad interface

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the microwave before removing the control panel.

Steps:

  • 1. Power reset: Unplug for 10–15 minutes to allow any static or minor moisture issues to dissipate. Plug back in and test. If SE returns, continue.
  • 2. Dry the keypad area: If SE appeared after heavy steam use, leave the door open and allow the control area to dry for several hours. Avoid spraying cleaners directly on the keypad.
  • 3. Inspect keypad ribbon cable: Remove the control panel (usually a few screws and lifting up). Disconnect and reconnect the flat ribbon cable between the keypad and control board. Check for corrosion or damage.
  • 4. Replace keypad or control panel: If certain keys are unresponsive or SE persists, replace the membrane keypad or the entire control panel assembly, depending on how Galanz supplies the part.
  • 5. Control board check: If a new keypad does not resolve SE, the control board keypad interface may be faulty and require replacement.
