Possible Causes
Stuck keypad button, Shorted keypad matrix, Failed control board keypad interface IC
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before removing the control panel.
- Check for stuck keys: Run your fingers over all buttons. If any are physically stuck or do not spring back, the keypad is likely defective.
- Clean keypad surface: Wipe the keypad with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry. Do not allow liquid to seep into the edges.
- Disconnect keypad ribbon: With power unplugged, remove the control panel and disconnect the keypad ribbon from the control board. Plug the unit back in (with keypad disconnected). If F7 disappears, the keypad is faulty. If F7 remains, the control board is at fault.
- Replace faulty component: Replace the membrane keypad/control panel assembly or the main control board as indicated by the test above.
