Microwave shows F9 and may not operate or may shut down unexpectedly.

Critical safety: The door switch system prevents microwave radiation leakage. Any repair involving door switches must be done carefully. Unplug the unit before service.

• Check door closure: Open and close the door firmly. Ensure it closes evenly and latches securely. If the door feels loose or misaligned, the latch or hinges may be damaged.
• Inspect latch area: Look at the plastic latch hooks on the door and the latch bracket inside the cabinet. If any are cracked or broken, they must be replaced.
• Door switch test (advanced): With the control panel and cover removed, locate the door switches on the latch bracket. Using a multimeter, test each switch for proper continuity when the door is opened and closed. Replace any switch that does not change state correctly.
• Adjust latch bracket: On some GE models, the latch bracket can be slightly adjusted to ensure proper switch actuation.
• Do not bypass switches: Never bypass or jumper door switches. Replace defective components only.
