Possible Causes
Failed humidity sensor, Shorted sensor wiring, Moisture intrusion into sensor connector, Faulty main control board sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before any internal inspection.
- Clean interior: Wipe down the interior cavity, especially near the sensor grill, to remove steam residue and grease.
- Allow to dry: Leave the door open for several hours to allow moisture to evaporate from the sensor area.
- Test non-sensor modes: Try manual time cook. If manual modes work but sensor modes fail with SE, the humidity sensor is likely faulty.
- Inspect sensor wiring (advanced): With the cover removed, locate the sensor and check its wiring harness for damage or loose connections.
- Replace sensor: Install a new GE-compatible humidity sensor. If SE persists, the control board sensor circuit may require replacement.
