Possible Causes
Burned-out cavity light bulb, Faulty light socket, Failed light relay on control board, Door switch not signaling open/closed correctly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before replacing the bulb. Use only the GE-specified replacement lamp.
- Access bulb: On many GE over-the-range models, the interior bulb is accessed by removing the top grille and control panel or a small access panel.
- Replace bulb: Remove the old bulb and install a new one of the same type and wattage.
- Check door switch: If the light still does not work and the door switch is not signaling correctly (e.g., light never comes on when door opens), a door switch may be faulty and should be replaced.
- Control board: If bulb and switches are good, the light relay on the control board may have failed and the board may need replacement.
