Possible Causes

Failed cavity cooling fan motor,Obstructed air ducts or blocked rear/side vents,Loose fan wiring connector,Faulty fan triac or relay on control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before inspection.

  • Check external airflow: Ensure the microwave has adequate clearance on all sides as specified in the Gorenje manual. Remove any objects blocking the rear or side vents.
  • Clean vents: Use a vacuum or soft brush to remove dust and grease from intake and exhaust grilles.
  • Listen for fan operation: During a short cook cycle, listen for the internal cooling fan. If you do not hear it running before E5 appears, the fan may be faulty.
  • Internal inspection (qualified persons): Unplug and remove the cover. Locate the cooling fan motor (usually near the magnetron). Check for obstructions (plastic, insulation, wiring) preventing the fan from turning.
  • Test fan motor: Spin the fan blade by hand; it should move freely. Check motor continuity with a multimeter. Replace the fan motor if open or seized.
