Microwave shows E1 and will not start or stops immediately

Safety warning: Unplug the microwave before any inspection. Do not access the high-voltage section (magnetron, capacitor, transformer). Door switch replacement should be done carefully to avoid miswiring.

• Check door closure: Open and close the door firmly. Ensure it closes evenly and the latch hooks fully engage. Look for broken or loose latch hooks.
• Inspect door alignment: Check if the door is sagging or misaligned. If the hinges are loose, tighten the mounting screws from the cabinet side (with power disconnected).
• Listen for clicks: Slowly open and close the door while listening for distinct clicks from the door switches. Missing or weak clicks can indicate a failed switch.
• Access switches (intermediate skill): Remove the outer cover (after unplugging). Locate the door switch cluster near the latch. Visually inspect for burned, melted, or loose terminals. Replace any switch that appears damaged or that does not click crisply when pressed.
• Test with a multimeter: If you have a meter and know how to use it, test each switch for proper continuity (NO/NC) according to its markings. Replace any switch that does not change state when actuated.
