Possible Causes
Failed magnetron thermal cutout, Blocked cooling vents, Defective cooling fan motor, Overheated magnetron
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave. Internal components can retain high voltage; do not remove the outer cabinet unless qualified.
- Check ventilation: Ensure the Hansa microwave has the required clearance on all sides (typically at least 10 cm at sides and rear, and 20–30 cm above). Remove any items blocking the rear or side vents.
- Clean air vents: Use a soft brush or vacuum with a brush attachment to gently clean dust and grease from the external vents. Do not spray cleaners directly into vents.
- Inspect cooling fan operation: Plug the unit back in and run it with a cup of water for 1–2 minutes while observing the rear/side vents. You should feel a steady stream of warm air. If airflow is weak or absent, the internal cooling fan motor may be failing.
- Allow full cool-down: If the unit has been used heavily, unplug it for 30–60 minutes to allow the magnetron and thermal cutouts to reset. After cooling, plug in and test again.
- Persistent E02: If the error returns quickly, the magnetron thermal cutout or magnetron itself may be defective and should be tested and replaced by a professional technician familiar with Hansa microwave high-voltage systems.
Warning: Do not operate the microwave empty; this can overheat the magnetron and worsen the fault.
