Safety first: Unplug the microwave. High-voltage components are dangerous; internal checks should be done only by trained personnel.
- Confirm mode behavior: Test grill or convection-only modes (if available). If they work but microwave heating fails with E05, the issue is isolated to the microwave power circuit.
- Avoid repeated attempts: Do not repeatedly start and stop the unit with E05 present; this can stress the high-voltage components.
- External inspection: Check that the power cord is intact and not overheating. Ensure the unit is not on an undersized extension cable.
- Professional diagnosis: A technician should measure magnetron current draw and inspect the high-voltage wiring, diode, and transformer. The control board’s current-sense circuitry may also need testing. Replace the magnetron or control board as indicated by diagnostics.
