Possible Causes
Failed cooling fan motor, Obstructed fan blades, Blocked air ducts, Faulty fan tachometer feedback to control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before inspection. Moving parts and high voltage are present inside.
- Check external airflow: Ensure that intake and exhaust vents are not blocked by cabinets, walls, or other appliances. Remove any obstructions and provide adequate clearance.
- Listen for fan operation: Plug the unit back in and start a short heating cycle. Place your hand near the exhaust vents; you should feel air movement and hear the fan. If E08 appears and no airflow is felt, the fan may not be running.
- Clean vents and filters: On some built-in Hansa models, removable filters or grilles can be cleaned. Remove them and wash with warm soapy water, dry thoroughly, and reinstall.
- Professional service: If the fan does not run or runs noisily, the cooling fan motor or its wiring/tach feedback circuit may be faulty. A technician should access the fan assembly, test the motor, and replace it if necessary.
Warning: Do not continue to use the microwave with E08 present; inadequate cooling can damage the magnetron and electronics.
