Possible Causes
Defective touch keypad,Loose ribbon cable between keypad and control board,Failed main control PCB,Moisture or contamination on keypad contacts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before any inspection. Do not remove the outer cabinet unless you are qualified; high-voltage components are exposed inside.
User-level steps:
- Power reset: Unplug the microwave for 5–10 minutes to discharge internal electronics, then plug it back in and check if the E2 code clears.
- Check for stuck keys: Gently press each button on the keypad several times. If any key feels stuck or does not click, there may be a keypad fault.
- Dry out moisture: If the keypad or control area has been exposed to steam (for example, from cooking on the stovetop below), leave the door open and allow the unit to dry for several hours. You can run the kitchen exhaust fan to help remove moisture.
Technician-level steps (do not attempt if untrained):
- Remove the control panel assembly and inspect the keypad ribbon cable for corrosion or looseness.
- Reseat the ribbon cable into the main control PCB and test continuity of the keypad matrix.
- Replace the touch keypad membrane or the main control PCB if found defective.
