Possible Causes
Corrupted control board memory (EEPROM), Loose ribbon cable between display and main PCB, Power surge damage to control electronics, Faulty control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the microwave from power.
Reset procedure:
- Unplug the microwave for at least 10 minutes to allow the control board to fully discharge.
- Plug it back in and set the clock. Attempt a short cook cycle with a cup of water.
- If E06 reappears immediately, the fault is likely persistent.
Technician-level checks:
- Remove the control panel assembly and inspect the ribbon cable connections between the keypad/display and the main control PCB.
- Reseat connectors and check for corrosion or bent pins.
- Look for signs of surge damage (burn marks, bulged components) on the control board.
- If available, reprogram or replace the EEPROM/control PCB according to Hoover service documentation.
Note: Control board replacement is typically required for E06. If under warranty, arrange service through Hoover.
