Possible Causes
Membrane keypad stuck key, Control panel contamination (moisture or grease), Control board keypad scan circuit failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening any panels. Do not touch internal high-voltage components.
- Check for stuck buttons: Press each button on the keypad individually. If any button feels stuck, does not click, or triggers multiple functions, the keypad is likely faulty.
- Clean the keypad surface: Wipe the keypad with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly. Avoid excessive moisture around the edges.
- Power cycle: Unplug the microwave for 10 minutes to reset the control. Plug back in and test.
- Inspect inside the control panel: Remove the control panel and check for signs of moisture, steam damage, or grease on the back of the keypad and around the ribbon connector. Allow any moisture to dry completely.
- Replace keypad or control panel: If F2 returns, replace the membrane keypad/control panel assembly. If a new keypad does not fix it, replace the main control board.
