Possible Causes
Loose keypad ribbon cable, Damaged keypad ribbon, Faulty control board communication circuit, Corrosion on connector pins
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before accessing the control panel.
- Power cycle: Unplug for 10 minutes, then reconnect. If F6 returns immediately, proceed to inspection.
- Access control panel: Remove the top grille and the screw(s) securing the control panel. Tilt the panel forward.
- Reseat ribbon cable: Carefully disconnect the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board. Inspect for cracks or discoloration. Reinsert fully and evenly.
- Clean connectors: Use isopropyl alcohol and a soft cloth to gently clean the ribbon contacts and board connector if they appear dirty or oxidized.
- Check for damage: If the ribbon is creased, torn, or delaminated, replace the membrane keypad/control panel assembly.
- Replace control board: If a known-good keypad and cable still cause F6, replace the main control board.
