Microwave interior light does not come on when the door opens or during cooking, but the unit otherwise works.

Safety first: Unplug the microwave before replacing the lamp.

• Access lamp: On many Hotpoint models, the cavity lamp is accessible by removing the outer cabinet or a dedicated lamp cover.
• Inspect bulb: Check if the filament is broken or the bulb is darkened. Replace with the correct Hotpoint-specified lamp type and wattage.
• Check socket and wiring: Ensure the lamp socket is not burnt and that wiring is secure.
• Door switch check: If a new bulb does not light, the door switch that controls the lamp may be faulty and require replacement.
