Possible Causes
Burnt-out cavity lamp, Loose lamp socket, Faulty door switch controlling lamp circuit, Wiring to lamp open
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before replacing the lamp.
- Access lamp: On many Hotpoint models, the cavity lamp is accessible by removing the outer cabinet or a dedicated lamp cover.
- Inspect bulb: Check if the filament is broken or the bulb is darkened. Replace with the correct Hotpoint-specified lamp type and wattage.
- Check socket and wiring: Ensure the lamp socket is not burnt and that wiring is secure.
- Door switch check: If a new bulb does not light, the door switch that controls the lamp may be faulty and require replacement.
