Possible Causes
Worn membrane keypad, Liquid spill behind keypad, Damaged touch sensor circuit on PCB, Shorted keypad ribbon
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before any disassembly.
Steps:
- 1. Clean the keypad surface: Wipe the control panel with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the panel.
- 2. Check for stuck keys: Press each button individually and feel for normal travel. If any key feels stuck or does not click, the membrane may be failing.
- 3. Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then reconnect and test. If E06 reappears immediately, a key is likely shorted.
- 4. Inspect keypad ribbon (DIYers): Remove the control panel and inspect the keypad ribbon cable for cracks, corrosion, or signs of liquid damage. Reseat the connector.
Resolution: Replace the membrane keypad or the entire control panel assembly with the correct IKEA/Whirlpool/Electrolux-compatible part if the fault persists.
