Possible Causes
Open grill heating element, Failed convection heater, Faulty grill thermostat, Burnt wiring to grill element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before inspection.
- Step 1 – Visual check of elements: Inspect the grill element (usually at the top of the cavity) for visible breaks, blisters, or burn marks. On convection models, also inspect the rear heater ring.
- Step 2 – Test grill function: If the microwave function works but grill does not heat and F09 appears, the fault is likely in the grill circuit.
- Step 3 – Access terminals (advanced): Remove the outer cabinet and locate the terminals of the grill and convection elements. Check for loose or burnt connectors.
- Step 4 – Measure resistance: With wires disconnected, measure the resistance of each element. An open circuit indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- Step 5 – Replace faulty element or thermostat: Fit a new Indesit grill or convection element/thermostat as required. Ensure all connections are tight and properly insulated.
Warning: Do not operate the microwave with exposed or disconnected heating elements.
