Possible Causes
Worn or cracked keypad membrane, Moisture ingress behind panel, Loose keypad ribbon cable, Faulty user interface PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before removing the control panel.
- Step 1 – Clean keypad surface: Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the panel.
- Step 2 – Test all keys: Note which keys fail. If entire rows or columns are dead, the ribbon or PCB is suspect; if random keys fail, the membrane is likely worn.
- Step 3 – Inspect ribbon cable (advanced): Remove the control panel and check the flat cable from the keypad to the PCB. Reseat the connector and inspect for cracks.
- Step 4 – Replace keypad or UI board: If cleaning and reseating do not restore function, replace the keypad membrane or complete control panel assembly with the correct Indesit part.
Note: Avoid pressing the keypad with sharp objects, which can damage the membrane.
