Possible Causes

Stuck keypad button, Shorted membrane switch on touch panel, Contaminated keypad from spills or cleaning fluids, Damaged keypad ribbon cable

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Disconnect power before removing any covers. Avoid contact with high-voltage components.

  • Check for stuck keys: With power off, press each button on the keypad several times. Feel for any that are physically stuck or do not click normally.
  • Clean keypad surface: Wipe the keypad with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not spray cleaner directly on the panel; spray onto the cloth instead. Allow to dry fully.
  • Power cycle: Restore power and see if F2 returns. If it does, proceed.
  • Inspect keypad ribbon: Remove the control panel and inspect the flat ribbon cable for kinks, burns, or corrosion at the connector. Reseat the cable firmly.
  • Isolate keypad: If possible, disconnect the keypad ribbon from the control board and power the unit briefly. If F2 changes or clears, the keypad is defective and should be replaced.
  • Replace keypad assembly: Install a new membrane keypad or complete control panel assembly compatible with your JennAir model.
