Possible Causes

Stuck relay on control board, Burned relay contacts, Damaged control board from power surge, Shorted load (heater or fan) overloading relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Unplug the microwave and allow several minutes before touching any internal components. Do not attempt to service the high-voltage section.

  • Power reset: Disconnect power for 10–15 minutes to allow the control to fully discharge. Restore power and check if F5 returns.
  • Listen for relays: When attempting to start a cycle, listen for clicking from the control board. No click or repeated clicking may indicate a relay issue.
  • Inspect control board: Remove the control panel and visually inspect the control board for burned spots, cracked solder joints, or melted relay cases.
  • Check connected loads: If the error appears when using convection or grill, inspect the convection fan motor and heater elements for shorts to chassis using a multimeter.
  • Replace control board: If relays are visibly damaged or the board shows signs of burning, replace the electronic control board. If a connected load is shorted, replace that component as well to prevent damaging the new board.
