Possible Causes
Blown internal line fuse, Open thermal fuse on cavity or magnetron, Failed line filter board, Faulty power cord
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the microwave before removing the outer cover. Internal components can be sharp and high-voltage parts are present.
- Check outlet: Test the wall outlet with another appliance to confirm power is present. Reset any tripped breaker or GFCI.
- Inspect power cord: Look for cuts, burns, or loose prongs. Replace the power cord if damaged.
- Access internal fuse: Remove the outer cover to locate the line fuse (usually near the power cord entry or line filter). Test it with a multimeter for continuity. Replace only with the exact same rating if blown.
- Check thermal fuses: Locate the cavity thermal fuse and magnetron thermal fuse. Test for continuity. An open fuse indicates an overheat condition and must be replaced.
- Investigate cause: If a fuse is blown, inspect for shorted components or blocked vents that may have caused overheating. If unsure, have a technician evaluate before restoring power.
