Microwave interior light does not turn on when the door opens or during cooking, but the unit otherwise works.

Safety: Unplug the microwave before replacing the bulb or accessing the light housing.

• Access bulb: On many KitchenAid over-the-range models, the cavity light is accessible from the top or inside the cavity behind a cover. Remove the cover carefully.
• Replace bulb: Install the correct wattage and type of microwave-rated bulb specified by KitchenAid.
• Check socket and wiring: If a new bulb does not light, inspect the socket for corrosion or heat damage and check the wiring connections.
• Control relay: If the socket and wiring are good, the main control's light relay may have failed and the control board may need replacement.
