Possible Causes

Contaminated humidity sensor surface, Excessive steam buildup, Failed humidity sensor, Faulty main PCB sensor processing

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug before cleaning inside the cavity.

Steps:

  • Clean cavity and sensor area: Wipe the interior walls and especially the area near the sensor grill (usually on the top or side) with a mild detergent solution. Rinse with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
  • Ventilate: Leave the door open for 30 minutes to allow moisture to evaporate.
  • Test non-sensor modes: Run a short TIME COOK cycle with a cup of water. If this works but SENSOR COOK still triggers E2, the sensor may be failing.
  • Use covers: When using sensor modes, cover foods with a microwave-safe lid or wrap to reduce excessive steam directly hitting the sensor.

If E2 persists on all sensor programs, the humidity sensor or control board likely needs replacement by a technician.
