Possible Causes

Open grill heating element, Failed grill thermostat, Overheated cavity due to blocked vents, Faulty grill relay on control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the microwave and allow it to cool completely before inspection. Grill elements can remain very hot after use.

Steps:

  • 1. Check usage conditions: Confirm that you are not using metal cookware or covering the ventilation openings while using grill/combination modes.
  • 2. Inspect grill element: Look at the grill element (usually at the top of the cavity) for visible breaks, burn spots, or sagging. A visibly broken element must be replaced.
  • 3. Test grill function: If your Logik model allows, try a pure microwave-only mode. If microwave-only works but grill/combination triggers E5, the fault is likely in the grill circuit.
  • 4. Internal checks (for competent DIYers): With the cover removed and unit unplugged, locate the grill thermostat and wiring to the grill element. Check for loose connectors or burnt wires. Test the grill thermostat for continuity at room temperature.
  • 5. Replace faulty parts: Replace an open grill element or failed grill thermostat with Logik-compatible parts. Ensure all wiring is routed away from hot surfaces.

If the grill element and thermostat test good, the issue may be a faulty relay or control PCB, which typically requires professional service.
