Possible Causes
Shorted membrane keypad contacts, Moisture or liquid behind control panel, Damaged keypad ribbon cable, Faulty control PCB key-scan circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before working on the control panel.
Steps:
- 1. Power cycle: Unplug the unit for 10 minutes, then plug back in. If SE returns immediately, a key is likely stuck or shorted.
- 2. Dry the panel: If SE appeared after cleaning or a spill, leave the door open and allow the control area to dry for several hours. Do not use the microwave until the error clears.
- 3. Inspect keypad: Remove the control panel fascia and check the membrane keypad for signs of damage, bubbling, or corrosion at the connector.
- 4. Reseat ribbon cable: Disconnect and reconnect the keypad ribbon cable to the control PCB, ensuring it is straight and fully inserted.
- 5. Replace keypad: If SE persists and certain keys do not respond or appear permanently pressed, replace the membrane keypad or full control panel assembly with a Logik-compatible part.
If a new keypad does not resolve SE, the control PCB may have a shorted key-scan IC and should be replaced by a technician.
