How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the microwave before opening the cabinet.

Basic checks:

  • Verify the wall outlet has power by testing with another appliance.
  • Check the household circuit breaker or fuse.

Internal checks:

  • Remove the outer cabinet and locate the line fuse near the power cord entry. Test it for continuity; replace only with the same rating if blown and after identifying the cause.
  • Locate thermal fuses on the cavity and magnetron; test for continuity. Replace any that are open with Magic Chef-specified parts.
  • Inspect the power cord for damage or loose connections at the terminal block.

Control board:

  • If fuses and cord are good but the unit is still dead, the main control board's low-voltage power supply may have failed and the board will need replacement.
