Microwave runs with the door open or attempts to start when the door is not fully closed.

Critical safety: Unplug the microwave immediately. A microwave that runs with the door open is extremely dangerous and must not be used until repaired.

Internal inspection:

• Remove the outer cabinet and locate the door switch assembly.
• Inspect the switches and bracket for damage or signs of overheating.
• Verify that the wiring harness is connected to the correct switch terminals according to the wiring diagram.

Testing:

• Test each door switch with a multimeter to ensure they open and close correctly with door movement.
• Replace any switch with welded or stuck contacts.

Corrective actions:

• Replace damaged switches and brackets with Magic Chef-approved parts.
• If the control board still energizes the high-voltage system with the door open after switch replacement, the board may be defective and must be replaced.
