Possible Causes
Failed grill thermostat, Blocked convection fan, Grease buildup on heating elements, Faulty overheat cut-out on cavity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave and allow it to cool completely before inspection.
Steps:
- 1. Allow cooling: Let the unit sit for at least 30–45 minutes, then plug back in and test. If E15 clears temporarily, an overheat condition is occurring.
- 2. Clean interior: Remove heavy grease from the grill elements, convection fan cover, and cavity surfaces. Built-up grease can cause localized overheating.
- 3. Check ventilation: Ensure external vents are not blocked and that the unit has adequate clearance.
- 4. Internal checks (experienced DIYers): Remove the cabinet and locate the grill thermostat and cavity overheat cut-out. Inspect for loose connections or signs of overheating.
Note: If E15 recurs quickly, the thermostat or cut-out may be weak and should be replaced.
