Possible Causes

Stuck membrane switch on keypad, Liquid spill or steam intrusion into keypad, Damaged keypad ribbon cable, Faulty control board keypad input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the outlet or breaker before removing any panels.

Initial checks:

  • Power cycle: Unplug for 5 minutes, then plug back in. If F2 reappears only when pressing a specific button, that key is stuck or shorted.
  • Clean around keypad: Wipe the keypad surface with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the keypad.

Internal inspection:

  • Remove the top grille and mounting screw(s) for the control panel. Tilt the panel out carefully.
  • Locate the keypad ribbon cable going into the control board. Disconnect and inspect for corrosion, discoloration, or cracks.
  • Clean the ribbon contacts gently with a soft pencil eraser or electronics contact cleaner, then reconnect firmly.

Functional test:

  • Restore power and test all keys. If F2 persists or certain keys do not respond, the keypad membrane is defective and must be replaced.
  • If a new keypad does not resolve the issue, the control board is likely faulty.

Note: Avoid using the microwave if it beeps randomly or starts functions on its own; disconnect power until repaired.
