Possible Causes

Broken door latch hook, Misaligned door latch bracket, Failed door sensing switch, Damaged latch spring or actuator

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the microwave before inspection.

Step-by-step checks:

  • 1. Inspect door latch hooks: Open the door and examine the plastic hooks on the door edge. If any are cracked, bent, or loose, they may not engage the internal switches properly.
  • 2. Check door alignment: Close the door slowly and observe if it sits flush with the cabinet. If one side is higher or the door bounces back, hinges or latch alignment may be off.
  • 3. Listen for clicks: When closing the door, you should hear 2–3 distinct clicks from the interlock switches. If you do not, the latch may not be actuating the switches.
  • 4. Access latch assembly (experienced DIYers): Remove the outer cabinet and, if needed, the control panel to access the latch bracket. Inspect the latch levers, springs, and switches for damage or wear.
  • 5. Replace damaged parts: Install a new door latch hook set or latch bracket assembly if any components are broken or deformed. Ensure springs are correctly tensioned.
  • 6. Test operation: Reassemble, plug in, and test door operation. If E7 persists, one of the door switches or the control board door-sense circuit may be faulty and should be tested with a meter.
