Possible Causes
Open or shorted cavity temperature sensor (NTC), Damaged wiring harness to temperature sensor, Faulty main control module, Overheated cavity due to blocked ventilation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before any disassembly. Internal components can be hazardous. Do not operate the microwave with covers removed.
- Allow unit to cool: If the oven has been used repeatedly, let it cool for at least 30 minutes, then try again. Ensure ventilation openings are not blocked.
- Check ventilation: Verify that the microwave has the required clearance around sides, top, and rear as specified by Miele. Clean any dust from vents.
- Inspect sensor wiring (advanced users): Remove the outer cover and locate the cavity temperature sensor (usually mounted on the top or side of the cavity). Check for loose or damaged connectors and wiring. Reseat connectors.
- Test sensor: With a multimeter (and the unit unplugged), measure the resistance of the NTC sensor. Compare to Miele service data; an open circuit or zero ohms indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace sensor if faulty: If readings are out of range, replace the cavity temperature sensor. If the sensor tests good, the main control module may be defective and should be diagnosed by a qualified technician.
