On grill or convection Morphy Richards microwaves, E8 appears and grill/convection will not operate.

Safety: Unplug the microwave and allow it to cool completely before working near the grill or convection elements.

Steps:

• 1. Visual inspection: Look at the grill element inside the cavity for visible breaks, burn marks, or sagging. For convection models, inspect the circular heater behind the rear panel (if visible).
• 2. Check for operation: Start a grill-only cycle and observe (through the door) whether the element glows red. If E8 appears immediately and the element never heats, the circuit is open.
• 3. Access terminals: With the unit unplugged and cover removed, locate the grill element terminals and wiring. Check for loose spade connectors or burnt wires.
• 4. Test continuity: Use a multimeter to measure resistance across the grill element. An infinite reading indicates an open element that must be replaced.
• 5. Inspect grill thermostat: Some models use a thermostat or thermal fuse in series with the grill. Test for continuity and replace if open.
• 6. Replace faulty parts: Install a new Morphy Richards-compatible grill element or convection heater, ensuring all connections are tight and insulated.

Reassemble and test grill/convection modes. If E8 persists, the control PCB relay or triac driving the heater may be defective.
