Possible Causes
Failing high-voltage transformer, Shorted magnetron, Loose transformer mounting bolts, Vibrating cabinet panels
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before inspection.
User checks:
- Ensure the microwave is installed on a stable, level surface and not touching cabinet walls that can resonate.
- Remove any items from the top of the microwave that may vibrate.
Internal checks (qualified):
- Remove the outer cabinet and run the unit briefly (with a load) while observing from a safe distance to locate the noise source.
- Tighten mounting bolts on the HV transformer and magnetron.
- If the transformer or magnetron emits a harsh electrical buzz and heating is poor, replace the faulty component.
Do not operate the microwave for extended periods while it is making abnormal HV noises; this can cause further damage.
