Possible Causes
Failed monitor door switch, Incorrect door switch alignment, Shorted door switch wiring, Faulty control PCB door-sense input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before opening the cabinet. High voltage is present inside.
- 1. Reset and test: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes to reset the control. Plug back in and try again. If E02 reappears immediately, proceed to hardware checks.
- 2. Inspect door latch and hinges: Check for bent hinges, cracked latch hooks, or debris preventing full closure. Clean the latch area and ensure the door closes flush with the cabinet.
- 3. Access the door switch assembly: Remove the outer cover. Locate the group of 2–3 switches near the door latch. One is the monitor switch (often with different terminal markings).
- 4. Test the monitor switch: With the door open, the monitor switch should be closed (continuity). With the door closed, it should be open (no continuity). Replace if readings are reversed or intermittent.
- 5. Check for shorts: Inspect the switch wiring for melted insulation or pinched wires touching the chassis. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- 6. If switches and wiring are good: The control PCB input circuit may be faulty. At this point, replacement of the control board or professional diagnosis is recommended.
