Possible Causes
Defective membrane keypad, Loose ribbon cable between keypad and control board, Corroded keypad connector, Failed keypad scan circuit on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before accessing the control panel.
- 1. Clean the panel surface: Wipe the keypad with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly. Moisture or grease can sometimes cause false touches.
- 2. Power reset: Unplug for 5 minutes, then reconnect and test. If E06 returns, proceed to internal checks.
- 3. Access the control panel: Remove the top grille (usually a few screws), then remove the screw(s) securing the control panel. Tilt the panel out carefully.
- 4. Reseat the ribbon cable: Locate the flat ribbon from the keypad to the control PCB. Unlock the connector if it has a latch, remove the ribbon, inspect for corrosion or cracks, then reinsert fully and lock.
- 5. Inspect for damage: If the ribbon is torn or the keypad surface is bubbled or cracked, replace the keypad assembly.
- 6. If a new keypad does not resolve E06: The control PCB keypad interface is likely faulty and the board must be replaced.
