Possible Causes
Open grill heating element, Failed convection heater, Faulty grill thermostat, Loose heater wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave and allow it to cool completely before working on grill or convection components.
- 1. Mode-specific test: Try running the microwave in standard microwave-only mode. If it works without E08, but fails in grill or convection mode, the fault is in the heater circuit.
- 2. Visual inspection: Remove the top and rear covers (if accessible) to view the grill element and convection heater. Look for breaks in the element, burnt spots, or disconnected wires.
- 3. Test heater continuity: Disconnect one lead from the grill element and measure resistance with a multimeter. An open reading (infinite resistance) indicates a failed element.
- 4. Check grill thermostat: Locate the thermostat near the grill area and test for continuity at room temperature. Replace if open.
- 5. Inspect wiring and connectors: Tighten any loose spade connectors and replace burnt terminals.
- 6. If all components test good: The control PCB heater relay or sensing circuit may be defective and require replacement.
